Double acting pneumatic actuator with handwheel is a kind of adjustable and flexible pneumatic actuator that can open and close the valves with a reciprocating linear motion. It is a combination of pneumatic automation and a hand wheel override for manual emergencies or maintenance operations.
Working Principle
Double acting pneumatic scotch yoke actuator uses compressed air to create motion in and opposite to the working direction. Unlike spring-return operators, it needs air pressure on both sides of the piston to move up or down. A handwheel is added to enable manual operation whenever there is no air pressure or when there is a system failure.
